The BLS Instructor Course is designed for Individuals who work/and or has a background in the Clinical Setting and wish to instruct the BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR program.

Order Your Course Material (BLS for Healthcare Providers Instructor Package  item # 90-1037 ) from one of the 3 approved AHA Vendors Channing-Bete Co, Laerdal or Worldpoint, and bring to class! Course Materials are NOT INCLUDED in the Course Tuition.

If you plan on teaching Heartsaver level courses ( Community level CPR/AED and or 1st Aid ) you must also acquire the Heartsaver Instructor Manual along with the appropriate Heartsaver Course DVD before teaching those programs.

1. Complete the Instructor Candidate Application. ( Under Downloads and Forms on our website )

2. Have Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider status and be proficient in all the skills.

3. Successfully complete the BLS Instructor Essentials online course, and print the course completion certificate and bring to the Classroom Instructor Course. Contact ERTSS 770-716-1404 to purchase you KeyCode  $40

The BLS Instructor Essentials Course teaches information needed to instruct AHA’s BLS for Healthcare Providers and Heartsaver® classroom courses and to conduct skills practice and skills testing sessions for BLS for Healthcare Providers and Heartsaver eLearning courses. These courses include:

  • Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED

BLS Instructor Essentials covers planning and preparation for courses, instructing courses, conducting written exams and skills testing and keeping your BLS Instructor status current. It includes approximately 30 minutes of general information about instructing AHA courses, followed by course-specific information.

IMPORTANT: Prior to taking this course, candidates must have a current American Heart Association course completion card in BLS for Healthcare Providers. Candidates also must have aligned with an AHA BLS Training Center that is accepting new BLS Instructors.

 

Following successful completion of the BLS Instructor Essentials Course, candidates also must:

  • Attend the classroom, skills practice-driven, Faculty-led BLS Instructor Course
  • Be monitored by Faculty teaching their first course within 6 months of the Classroom Instructor Course.
