2010 Guidelines AHA INSTRUCTOR UPDATES Notebook - Write_32x32

The American Heart Association Instructor Update format has been released and I wanted to share this information with you.
The following will be the process for the 2011 AHA Instructor Updates. There are 2 parts to the 2011 Updates.

*2010 Guidelines October 18th Click Here to download the 2010 Guidelines Highlights*

Continue using the current Instructor Manuals, Course Videos and Student Text for your courses until New Training Material is available. See the below information.

  • No one can teach the new guidelines until they have been updated   (via the webcast on the Instructor Network OR attend one of the two face to face  Guidelines updates for AHA Instructors). The first update will be  at the AHA 2010 Guidelines for CPR & ECC Instructor Conference, being held November 12, 2010 at McCormick Place in Chicago,  and the second AHA Instructor Update will be via pre-conference sessions (BLS, ACLS, PALS) at Citizen CPR Foundation’s ECCU Conference. The pre-conference sessions will occur December 8, 2010. For more information on this update opportunity, Instructors should visit www.eccu2010.com

  • 2. AHA training materials updated to reflect new Guidelines will launch throughout 2011. The BCLS For Healthcare Providers Material will be available for purchase on March 23rd, 2011. The tentative release dates for 2011 products were provided back in November 2009 from our National office. The document outlining these dates, “Preliminary 2010 AHA Guidelines Information & Schedule – U.S. Market,” can be found on the AHA Instructor Network in the News/Guidelines section or click here to view from our website

  • 3. All AHA Instructors and Heartsaver Skills Evaluators (HSSE) must complete their official required science update for the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR & ECC by April 1, 2011. Courses taught after April 1st must incorporate new science. Until new course materials are available reflecting the new science, Instructors and HSSEs will be able to incorporate new science into current courses using interim training tools that will be provided.

  • 4. AHA ECC Training Centers (TCs), Instructors and HSSEs will have up to 60 days following the release of a 2011 printed product line to deplete their supply of current materials and begin using the updated materials that reflect the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR & ECC. After 60 days, only new materials can be used to teach courses. Instructors can begin using new materials as soon as they have completed their required product updates.
  • * BCLS HCP released on March 23rd. Any class taught after May 23rd must use the New Course Video and support
  • material.
  • *Heartsaver Products released on April 26th. Any class taught after June 26th must use the New Course Video and
  • support material.
  • *ACLS released on May 10th. Any class taught after July 10th must use the New Course Video and support material.

  • 5. AHA will be introducing new Course Completion Cards to be used with the 2011 updated products and materials for credentialed courses. TCCs, Instructors and HSSEs have 90 days after the release of the New BCLS HCP to use current Card stock. Once card stock has been depleted or 90 days, which ever comes first, the New Card Stock will be issued. No BCLS HCP old format card stock can be used after this date ( June 23rd, 2011 )

  • 6. Again, all Instructors must be updated with the new guidelines by April1, 2011 but a company/facility can decide if they want their employees updated prior to April 1, just keep in mind April 1 is the deadline for the Webcast updates.
